Head Coach: Sterling Brown

  • Certifications – CrossFit Level 2, USAW, Gymnastics, Powerlifting, Strongman, Mobility, Olympic Lifting
  • Classes – WOD, Dynamics, Gymnastics, Powerlifting, Strongman, Olympic Lifting

Sterling has been involved in fitness all his life. He grew up playing wrestling, track, and football in high school. He has now been coaching CrossFit for over 7 years while also competing locally throughout that time. Once he started coaching CrossFit, he realized how the simple principle of movement had much to offer in terms of health and enjoyment. Through his experience has come the philosophy that fitness is much more than great abs and a big deadlift. It is meant to improve the quality of your life, and it should also be fun. Much like a kid coming up with games to play at recess, this is what he tries to bring to his classes and programming at Vault Athletics.

Operations Manager: Liz Diaz

Vault holds such a special place in my heart. This place helped me during the darkest and scariest time of my life. I had just started my fitness journey at Vault when shortly afterwards, I unexpectedly suffered a stroke in June of 2016. I wanted nothing more than to regain my old strength back during my year of recovery, and I quickly became part of a family I never knew existed. Since then, the community has helped me gain the confidence and strength that I implement in my daily life. A few months after, I started working front desk at Vault helping in any way possible. I was then asked to become the operations manager and I could not be happier to take on such an important role in a place I love so much. I hope to be able to motivate and inspire others. If you have any questions or concerns, I am hear to help to make your experience with us a positive one!

Coach, Member Relations Manager: John Enick

  • Certifications – CrossFit Level 1
  • Classes – WOD, Dynamics

Question: What is a hairdressers favorite exercise? Well, if you don’t know, stick with me and you’ll find out! My name is John Enick; I am a CrossFit L-1 Trainer and the Member Relations Manager at Vault Athletics. In true Gemini fashion, I have two faces: one is for entertainment and the other is for fitness. Although the former is what initially drew me to Los Angeles, the latter has become one of my most enjoyable primary pursuits. I joined Vault in the summer of 2018 and after seeing how much of a positive impact it had on my life both physically and mentally I dove head first into the deep end without a second thought. One speed. Outside of fitness, I am pursuing the entertainment industry; I have a passion for mathematics, puzzles, comics, and a good debate. I enjoy spending free time with my girlfriend and cat and look forward to every possible opportunity for a family reunion. Fine, I know the real reason you’ve read this far. Curls, okay, CURLS! THE ANSWER IS CURLS!! Have a great day and I hope to see you around the gym šŸ™‚

Coach: Ira Zabolotnaya

  • Certifications – CrossFit Level 2, USAW Sports Performance
  • Classes – WOD, Olympic LIfting, Dynamics

I was born in Ukraine. I used to do bodybuilding training all my life. I used to love basic lifts like bench presses or deadlifts. One day, my friend showed me a CrossFit video with basic lift but performed in high intensity. And it was easy to understand that it was very effective training. I was immediately hooked. I started to implement CrossFit in my bodybuilding routine. I soon planned a vacation to Los Angeles and completed my level 1 education at the same time. Then it became a question of time to move to California completely and to do what I love in this awesome place! Vault Athletics changes lives for sure ā€“ on the physical level, everyday situations, and most importantly, our spirit. And I love this the most in my job! Fun fact about me? I watched training videos filmed at Vault Athletics from Ukraine. Who would have thought I would be at the exact same place only a mere couple of years later. But Iā€™m here. And it seems all dreams come true. In one way or another.

Coach: Nate Gray

  • Certifications – CrossFit Level 1, CrossFit gymnastics, Outlaw CrossFit Camp, TRX
  • Classes – WOD, Dynamics

I’ve been involved in athletics since 4th grade and have been incorporating strength and conditioning since I was 13 years old. I started CrossFit in 2012 and have never looked back. One of my many favorite quotes:
“The challenge of leadership is to be strong, but not rude; be kind, but not weak; be bold, but not a bully; be thoughtful, but not lazy; be humble, but not timid; be proud, but not arrogant; have humor, but without folly” -Jim Rohn

Coach: Mark Holzum

  • Certifications – 200 RYT, Functional Range Conditioning Mobility Specialist, CrossFit Level 1
  • Classes – Vault Yoga, Functional Range Conditioning, CrossFit

Mark is so happy to be back with the Vault Team! Originally from St. Louis, Mark’s first love was team sports (mostly baseball) and it was in college that he first came across CrossFit. After just making up a bunch of workouts at his University’s ‘GloboGym’ it was time to get his L1 and do it right. As he moved to LA, yoga was then discovered and after teaching it for 5+ years it led him to Functional Range Conditioning. FRC was developed by Dr. Andreo Spina and is a comprehensive joint training system based in scientific principals and research. Mark’s passion is alleviating pain and he’s stoked to bring his knowledge to the Vault team. Mark just recently entered the 800+ club for powerlifting.

Coach: Zach Lane

  • Certifications –
  • Classes – Bazillian Jiu Jitsu

I started training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu when i was 21 years old after a Karate instructor of mine, who was a purple belt at the time in BJJ, handily out grappled me and tapped me out several times in under a few minutes (keeping in mind i was probably 40lbs heavier than him). I knew then i had to learn this amazing art called Brazilian JiuJitsu. I started teaching beginner classes after i received my blue belt and immediately knew it’s what i wanted to do with my life./p>

Coach: Marco Palao

  • Certifications –
  • Classes – Bazillian Jiu Jitsu

I started training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu just to lose a few pounds. Two years and 50lbs later Jiu Jitsu has become a major part of my life. I was asked to coach a couple of days after I got my blue belt and realized how happy it made me. The excitement I see in students, kids to adults, is worth every second I spend getting beat up on the mats.
